As many as 400 semi-permanent buildings and stalls standing on the drainage located at Jalan Kemayoran Gempol, RW 04 and 05 Kebon Kosong, Kemayoran, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (8/11), demolished.

The vendors won't be relocated because they had occupied the land over 10 years

The demolition process that went well without protest was conducted by 150 joint personnel from Satpol PP, urban village, sub-district, and army/police.

Kemayoran Sub-District Vice Head, Asih Sumaretmi said, the personnel have difficulties to clean the drainage due to illegal buildings. Even, at night, the place cannot be passed by vehicle due to blocked by street vendors.

"The vendors won't be relocated because they had occupied the land over 10 years. We also got many complaints from road users and citizens because they can't pass the road," told Sumaretmi.

Ayu, (45), a building owner was shocked with the demolition because she had occupied the stall since six months ago after alternating with her colleagues.

"I was shocked, because the personnel demolish my building without socialization. Please don't this," she reasoned.
